Candidates for November 2025

Joann Sharp for Town Justice

Joann Sharp and her husband, Larry, moved "home" to Western NY to be with his father, whose health is not what it once was.

Joann has been a courtroom lawyer for 28 years in Georgia and was recently sworn in by the NY Appellate Division. She has been selected as a Super Lawyer in Super Lawyer Magazine for the last eight years (2017-2024).

Joann attended Emory University for her B.A., Auburn University at Montgomery for her Master's in Liberal Arts, and the University of South Carolina for law school where she was on Law Review, served as the managing editor for the Journal of Law and Education, and competed in Moot Court and Mock Trial.

Joann has tried cases throughout the country in both State and Federal Courts. She has been involved in several high-profile cases and cases of first impression that have been written about in The Los Angeles Times, The National Law Journal, The New York Times Magazine, Correctional Mental Health Report, and the Fulton County Daily Report. She has over a dozen published appellate opinions.

Joann describes herself as a true law geek and loves everything about the law, the courtroom, and the responsibility that goes along with being a lawyer.

Donations for Sharp for Justice should be sent to 33 Adams St, Brockport, NY 14420.

Donations are not tax deductible.

Rory Schnurr for Town Board

Rory Schnurr was born and raised in Monroe County, with family roots stretching back to the 1830’s. Rory and his wife, Christine, decided to move back to the Rochester area from New York City a year and a half ago. They chose Sweden as the perfect destination for a home for the rest of their lives, after comparing it to other communities throughout the region. They found that the mix of village, suburbs, and farms provided a uniquely appealing environment.

Rory’s career is divided between the private and public sectors. As an attorney, he has represented the interests of clients large and small, including municipalities, school districts, multi-national corporations, labor unions and individuals from very diverse walks of life. In addition to the government, Rory has worked in the energy industry, the security industry, the construction industry and the healthcare industry. Since returning, Rory has represented those unable to afford legal representation in criminal matters.

Much of Rory’s work experience has been focused on labor and employee relations, which he studied at Le Moyne College in Syracuse. Rory got his law degree at St. John’s University.

Rory wants to use his varied experience as representative of the people of the Town of Sweden. His focus will be to engage the community to make sure all segments of our population get their voices heard. Decisions impacting the unique character of our community should reflect consideration of the interests of our entire community. Growth and development are essential and inevitable for our town; however, maintaining balancing all residents’ interests will ensure that we maintain the wonderful character of Sweden.

Rory and Christine are proud parents and grandparents.
